It’s nearly Summertime so in this week’s music bag, I’ve picked out a few of those laidback, sunny summer hits. Look out for next week’s Music Bag where I feature 3 artists you really should be listening to.

-OLDER- Weezer | Islands in the Sun |

Was not originally planned to feature in the 2001 Weezer (The Green Album) but producer Ric Ocasek fought hard and it ended up on the final product, with successful radio airplay. Some consider it the most successful Weezer song outside of the US.

It’s a fantastic laid back tune which I find evokes memories of that perfect summer by the beach. A little sad for the theme, like Nina Simone’s version of ‘Here comes the sun‘, but entirely heartfelt. Catchy crunchy guitar riffs with solid drumming.

Perfect for: That sun in your eyes beachside drive
Recommended if you like:well, weezer I guess. Maybe depeche mode.

-NEWER- Jason Mraz| I’m Yours |

Okay, let me be smug here. I actually heard this back in 2005 as a demo to promote Mr A-Z. I’ve always wondered why it wasn’t released as a full single or even got more recognition. Frankly speaking, it’s a great song- almost a boat song crossed with Carribean tones and if I listen hard enough a touch of Calypso in there.

The lyrics have a light-hearted seriousness about them, like a toddler asking for a cookie, never stern. Mraz’s vocals happily take centre stage and the breathy- air injected feel is never out of space or time. Lovely.
Perfect for: Beach party, boat party, weddings
Recommended if you like:Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band

-FUTURE HIT- Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat| Lucky |

Two Mraz songs in one post? Have I gone loopy? Not at all. This duet with Caillat has all the ingredients of a summer hit: 2 vocally talented performers. Same general genre. Throw in a slightly formulaic melody, lyrics and acoustic guitar beats and resistance will be futile. Do I like it? Not as much as I’m Yours but I predict this may well be a big hit for the pair.

Perfect for: Radioplay!
Recommended if you like: Laura Fygi/ Eva Cassidy- Hey I had to write something.

I was lucky enough to have a lovely flyby over Rudall River National Park earlier this year. The weather was great for shooting and the sky was quite clear which allows great fine detailing in these shots.

Established in 1977, Rudall River is a national park in Western Australia lies 1252 km northeast of Perth. It is the second largest national park in Australia at 1,283,706 hectares.

It is rich in aboriginal culture and with an abundance of wildlife. But is also one of the most remote places in the world. Access is difficult and the public visits are discouraged due to harsh conditions and the lack of any facilities.

Mining companies and Aboriginal communities are active within the park but lack facilities to host travellers.

In the great sandy desert, shurbery contributes to the greenary from underground aquafers. I have been planning a trip here for several years, but it will particularly difficult due to lack of facilities and harsh conditions.

In the great sandy desert, the shades of the sand vary with the moisture and mineral content. The water is frequently coloured by the earth.

1. The most difficult to write
2. The worst

So I’m gonna keep it nice and simple to minimise the pain. I’m Terence. I have a dayjob, my own guitar business and I also find time to write articles and take pretty pictures here and there. For 50-fifty-50, I’ll be concentrating on music reviews and posting up my latest eye candy. You may find an occasional rant about life if you’re particularly unlucky.

Hope you enjoy what you see and I hope you’ll visit soon.
